Microblading has come to Rocky River. Rocky River Med Spa has added microblading to its menu of spa services.
Microblading is a 3D semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo. Individual microstrokes are applied onto the top layer of the skin to match your natural brow hair and skin tone. Your initial procedure includes customization of your brow shape and color as well as one touch-up at 5-6 weeks after eyebrow application.
The service costs $500; price includes initial appointment (lasting one and a half to two hours) and a follow up appointment five to six weeks later. (Included in price)
The procedure lasts on average about one year.

A patch test is also included to ensure there will be no allergic reaction to the pigment.
2. Initial Treatment
This appointment usually lasts about 2 hours which includes 30 minutes of numbing time. Xheni, the spa’s aesthetician and brow technician will review appropriate shape, symmetry, pigment color etc. to help establish and create the foundation for your new brows.
3. 5-6 Week Touch-Up
This is a 5-6 week follow-up appointment which allows any additional color or more density to be adjusted or fine –tuned. You can expect this appointment to be about an hour and a half. Numbing will also be included.
4. Loyalty Program (12- to 18-Month Touch-Up)
Since microblading is a semi-permanent procedure, we advise an annual touch-up to help maintain your beautiful microbladed brows. If you are a returning client, you will only be charged $250 instead of the full price of $500. If you go longer than 18 months without a touch-up, you will need to schedule an Initial Treatment again.
MICROBLADING PRE-PROCEDURE INSTRUCTIONS
It’s important that the eyebrow area is healthy and non-irritated prior to your microblading procedure. Please follow the following instructions to ensure the most effective results.
- Stop the use of any vitamin A/retinol products a month prior to initial treatment.
- No face scrubs, chemical peels, Botox or Xeomin treatments at least three weeks prior to initial treatment.
- Do not pick, tweeze, wax or perform electrolysis one week prior to initial microblading.
- Do not take any natural supplements that are blood thinners at least one week prior.
- Do not wax or tint your eyebrows in the three days prior to your appointment.
- Do not drink alcohol 24 to 48 hours before your microblading procedure as it can cause excessive bleeding and poor color deposit.
- Avoid working out/ sweating the day of initial treatment.
- Do not consume coffee before your appointment.
- Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen or any other blood thinners before your appointment.
Is microblading right for me?
Microblading is a great solution if you have naturally thin, light or overplucked eyebrows. It is also a great option for those who would like to create symmetry and accentuate the brows they already have.
Does microblading hurt?
Because you are numbed prior to the procedure, the level of pain experienced can be minimized, but there is definitely some level of discomfort involved. The best way to describe the discomfort would be similar to that of a cat scratch. If the sound of scratching is something that bothers you, please feel free to bring your own headphones to distract you. That being said, everyone's skin and pain threshold are different, but during the procedure, there shouldn't be a point where the pain becomes unbearable.
How long does microblading take to heal?
The area will be fully healed 5-6 weeks after the procedure is done. Be sure to read and follow your aftercare instructions for the most effective results.
Is the touch up session necessary?
Yes! A 5-6 week touch up session is required as everyone heals differently and the outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during the initial session and will need to be re-filled. Your touch-up session is meant to refine your brows to ensure it will retain the color and look great all year round!
Does microblading scar?
No. With the proper technique, microblading should not scar. Picking, scratching or rubbing the scabs/ flaking that you may experience during the healing process is what WILL cause scarring. Picking could also result in the loss of pigment.
Do I have to shave off my eyebrows to get it done?
No! Microblading enhances what you already have to make your eyebrows look as natural as possible. It is not necessary, nor recommended, for you to get rid of any natural hair you may already have.
How long does microblading last?
Microblading procedures should last anywhere from one to three years, with variations due to skin-type, facial products used as well as proper after-care. Since microblading is semi-permanent, it will fade over time due to natural exfoliation, sun exposure and skin care products that may increase exfoliation. You can maintain your look and combat fading through microblading touch-ups. We offer and recommend a 12- to 18-month touch-up service to keep your brows looking beautiful.
What can I expect after a microblading procedure?
The healing process after a microblading procedure varies from person to person based on many factors, including but not limited to: adherence to aftercare instructions, whether or not shading was done and how someone's body and skin react to the procedure.
Some of the most common things you can expect after a microblading procedure are:
- Tenderness in the area
- Pink or redness around the affected area
- Thickening and darkening of the area
- Moderate to thick scabbing three to four days after the procedure
- Scabs will begin to flake off between five and 10 days after the procedure
- After scabs flake off, pigment color and strokes will look light, gray and blurry
- After the area is fully healed, about four weeks after the procedure, the pigment will return to full color
