 FAQs

  • Topical anesthetic cream and local anesthesia make mole and skin tag removal painless.

  • It is possible for the mole or skin tag to return, especially if caused by the sun or clothing rubbing in the area.

A follow-up treatment (at a reduced cost) may be necessary to flatten or remove the mole or skin tag again.

  • Skin tags are seldom cancerous. Black moles can be melanoma, a very serious form of skin cancer.

If there is any doubt about cancer, we will recommend biopsy

  • The laser specifically targets the water in the skin cells and causes accurate and complete vaporization of the lesion.

The removal is very precise and many times results in no scar or mark if the patient follows post care instructions.

  • Skin tag and mole removal is quick and effective.

One mole can be removed in as little as two minutes.

An entire back or chest may take an hour, depending on size and number.

  • For best results, very large moles are removed from the face and neck with two treatments.

The first treatment removes the bulk of the mole. The second treatment “polishes” the skin and makes it flat so the area of removal is unnoticeable.

  • The cost depends on the number of moles and skin tags.

it starts at $95 for 1 mole

  • Many times, insurance does not cover the cost of more removal since it is considered a “cosmetic procedure.”

Insurance coverage also depends on whether the patient’s “deductible” for the year has been met.

  • Freezing and burning moles and skin tags is not as precise as laser removal and often results in noticeable scars and blemished skin.

  • Mole and skin tag removal are free of most complications.

    Infections are very rare.

The most frequent complication is a small mark or scar which can easily be treated with Scar Laser Removal

The Science

Sciton Yag Laser

remodeling for smooth, even results

  • Skin Tags can be caused by a virus and are actually often times warts. Abrasion or severe rubbing of the skin in certain ares such as bra lines and under the arms seem to cause skin tags. Only a biopsy can distinguish between a skin tag and a wart.

The treatment of a skin tag and wart are the same, so there is no need for a biopsy unless skin cancer or melanoma is suspected. Melanomas are usually dark-pigmented, raised and irregular growths. Moles are often hereditary or caused by the sun. Moles are collections of melanocytes, the cells which produce pigment in our skin.

Excessive sun exposure can produce stimulation of the mealnocytes which in certain people cluster together to form moles. Moles can fade away with time. Moles are easily treated with Sciton Yag Laser. The laser carefully and accurately vaporizes layers of the mole until the underlying clear skin is seen. The area is then “polished” with a micro-laser treatment to flatten the area and make it less noticeable.

If a mole comes back twice, after a proper laser treatment, the lesion is biopsied and sent to the lab for safety.
