Dermal Fillers For Restoring Youthful-Looking Skin
Dermal fillers “fill” skin that has lost tissue volume. The new fillers are made of natural ingredients such as calcium and hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is what human skin is made of in addition to collagen. Some of the popular brands of dermal fillers include: Juvederm®, Restylane®, Restylane Silk®, Radiesse®, and Belotero®. A consultation at The Fountain Clinic with Dr. Birchall or Nurse Eva Estes, R.N. is the best way to determine which filler will best suit your needs. Dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6 months to 7 years depending on the type of filler, where it is placed and individual considerations such as extreme exercise. Fillers are most commonly used in the following areas:
- Nasal labial folds (the fold of skin between the side of the nostril and the corner of the mouth, as in the picture above)
- Marionette lines (wrinkles that occur between the corner of the mouth and the chin)
- Cheeks
- Lips
- Facial wrinkles
- Vertical lip lines
- Corners of the mouth
- Tear-troughs (hollows under lower eyelids which cause dark circles)
If you have had a "bad result" from filler placement elsewhere, don't be discouraged. Dr. Birchall has the skill and knowledge to expertly dissolve poorly or incorrectly placed fillers in the lips, under-eye or any other area then replace the filler with precision, natural-looking filler to correct the situation.
Dermal fillers can even be used in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation treatments. With dermal fillers, you can successfully improve the appearance of aging skin. Dilute Radiesse can rejuvenate the under-chin area and the back of the hands.
Under-Eye Filler
Belotero Balance® is the best dermal filler for under-eye use because of its advanced optical properties. Only Belotero® is cross linked (similar to how a sweater is knit) which prevents it from turning blue (called the Tyndall effect). Thus, dark circles treated under the eye with lesser fillers, result in a blue tint which is difficult to disguise with makeup. The Soft-Fil® canula (micro-tube), from France, is used to gently fill the tear-troughs (under-eye hollows). The filler can be placed all the way to the nose. This cannot be done with needles and multiple injections of filler. The use of the canula is accomplished with only one micro-incision on the cheek made with a small needle after numbing cream has taken effect. The result is highly-precise placement under the eye without bruising and only minimal swelling. A special "eye-puff" cream is applied to minimize swelling just before the patient leaves. Two weeks after filler placement, the final result is seen.
Fillers can also be placed in hollow cheeks, hollow temples and in the jaw area to re-establish a strong jaw line. Our slogan is, "Beauty is a journey, not a race." There is never any pressure or "sales job" to have any procedure done. Fillers are expensive, but less expensive at The Fountain Clinic™ than many other
spas in the area. Price isn't everything, results are of paramount importance to every member of our team. We are honored to have your trust and confidence.
