Reduce Wrinkles in About a Week With Botox Cosmetic

Botox Cosmetic – I am sure you have read many of the tales and misconceptions, some think Botox is only for those who are very vain and overly concerned about their looks.  Others think Botox® always creates an unnatural, paralyzed look.  The fact is, Botox is the most used cosmetic treatment of any.  More than 4 million treatments were done last year.  Many treated include your friends and neighbors!  To download our FREE brochure, click HERE.

Botox Results

The result of Botox Cosmetic injection in wrinkled areas around the eyes and forehead is a smoother, relaxed and more youthful appearance.  There is a new product called Xeomin, which produces the same effects as Botox but has less bound proteins and reduce the buildup of resistance.  Ask if Botox treatment from our Cleveland Ohio med spa might be right for you!

The results with Botox are excellent.  They are natural looking when used properly by a physician with training and experience.  Dr. Curt Birchall, M.D. was trained in the use of Botox at the Ageless Aesthetic Institute in his fellowship training with the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine.  Dr. Birchall was also trained in the use of Botox Cosmetic at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA.  The Internet is filled with tales of bad outcomes and complications but, Botox complications are rare and most have nothing to do with Botox itself.  They are mostly caused by the lack of training and skill of the person doing the injections.

There is More to Consider Than Just Price!

Choose your Botox provider based on experience, skill and training - not on price alone!  After all, the results of poor Botox injection technique, though not permanent, cannot easily be masked or covered with clothing!

How does Botox Cosmetic work?

Botox therapy was first approved by the FDA for treatment of wrinkles above the nose and between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in 2002. This means Botox has been proven safe and effective when used correctly, for the past 12 years.  Thousands and thousands of patients have found they look younger, less stressed and more rested in as little as four to five days after treatment.  The change is gradual and subtle – just like aging, but the results are just the opposite!  The photos above are from the Botox site.  For more amazing photos click here.

Everyone has unique expressions. We move our facial muscles in a repetitive way and over time those repetitive movements cause wrinkles and fine lines. When you start to experience the signs of aging, Botox® is available to diminish unwanted wrinkles and creases in your face.

Molecules of Botox temporarily “block” the signal from the nerve that causes the muscle to move.  Movement returns in 3-4 months.  Botox Cosmetic only affects motor nerves that cause muscle movement, so there is no loss of sensation or numbness, no vision problems or effects on the brain or other kinds of nerves.  After treatment, the muscle then relaxes within 4-5 days, then the overlying skin starts to smooth.

The crinkles and “crow’s feet” at the corners of the eyes (see below) are from the skin thinning as a result of being creased and folded again and again.

Treatment is targeted only at muscles that cause wrinkles.  A very small amount of Botox is injected in and around a muscle that has over-developed from excess use.  Those included are in the forehead and between the eyebrows from scowling or frowning, (called “elevens” because they look like the number 11 has been etched in the skin between the eyebrows just above the nose... see above.)

Unnecessary Botox FearsDeeply etched wrinkles and creases gradually fill in with collagen and the skin looks younger.  It takes 4-6 months for deep lines and wrinkles to “fill in.”  Botox does not “fill in” wrinkles in any way.

The most common misconception is that Botox injections are painful.  Unnecessary Fears!  Skillful injection without the use of numbing cream and only a cold pack has little or no pain.  There is seldom any bleeding or bruising, you can return to most activities at once.  No “recovery time” is needed.  The second misconception is an unnatural or “paralyzed” look as a result of treatment.  Dr. Birchall’s technique results in a natural look… rested, less stressed, smooth and youthful, with good motion and expression.

Consider Outcome vs Cost

Dr. Birchall’s technique uses less Botox and gets better, longer- lasting results than many others.  The total cost of Botox treatment is often times less than “coupon Botox injections” which may cost less per unit, but more units are used with less than thrilling results because of poor or improper technique.  You cannot judge results on a cheaper price per unit.  After all, it is your face we are talking about!  The same holds true with a restaurant where food is prepared by a grill cook versus a gourmet chef.  Cheap Botox treatments  – price isn’t everything when it comes to your results… and looks!

How often is treatment needed?

Typically, 3-4 months of great results are obtained when Dr. Birchall’s post-treatment facial exercise regimen is followed.  The results vary by physical condition and whether the patient smokes.  How often is treatment needed?  It is best to have the treatment again before full motion and wrinkles return.  Thus, each subsequent treatment will last a few weeks to a month longer.

Botox Cosmetic Side Effects and Complications

Botox complications and side effects from are extremely rare.  There can be eyelid droop or uneven eyebrows if a tight hat or band is placed on the forehead after treatment.  Injections are not done in patients with neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis.  Pregnant or breast-feeding patients are not treated.

Combined Botox injections with laser treatment and fillers.

All three wrinkle-reduction treatments can be used during the same visit: Botox, laser resurfacing and fillers.  As mentioned before, Botox Cosmetic does not fill wrinkles.  So facial fillers such as Belotero®, Restylane® are used under the eyes and in the lower half of the face.  Laser resurfacing is a powerful tool when used in combination with Botox Cosmetic therapy.  The laser treatment is done first, followed by Botox.

Treatments of Other Conditions Than Wrinkles with Botox Cosmetic

Did you know that excess sweating under the arms, hand and feet can be safely reduced with Botox?  This is called hyperhidrosis.  Click here to learn more about hyperhydosis.  An uneven smile or “gummy” smile in which the upper lip shows too much of the upper gums above the teeth can be corrected.  There are bands that appear under the chin at the front of the neck as we age and posture worsens.  These are called platysma muscle bands and Botox Cosmetic works great in this area to reduce or eliminate this tell-tale sign of aging.

Botox for Migraines

Botox can be used to treat chronic migraines.  If you suffer from multiple migraine headaches per month, contact Dr. Curt Birchall for a free consultation and consider Botox therapy for your chronic migraines.  Botox has been clinically shown to reduce the incidence and severity of chronic migraines.

Botox cosmetic treatments can be used to improve:

  • Worry lines in your forehead
  • Lines between the eyebrows
  • Smile lines
  • Laugh lines from nose to mouth
  • Crow’s feet

Generally, anyone in good health who has fairly shallow fine lines and wrinkles may be good candidates for Botox treatments.

Most patients require retreatment to remove wrinkles and lines as they begin to reappear, but after each injection the wrinkles return as less severe as the muscles are trained to relax.  The procedure does not require anesthesia and usually takes just a few minutes to perform.  Botox treatments can help both men and women rejuvenate and revitalize their appearance.
